A Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT) can be used to obtain admission into an Educator Preparation Program (EPP). Tests taken through the PACT route are the same tests used for certification.
TExES Practice Exam Products
Certify Teacher offers test preparation software products for educator certification. 240Tutoring is an online TExES preparation resource that can assess an individual’s knowledge and help direct studying. 240 Tutoring provides in-depth instructional content and interactive practice questions that allow individuals to understand concepts on the test and how the concepts are applied.
Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC)

G.I Bill Educational Benefits
Ask your university’s Veterans Administration Benefits Counselor or your Alternative Certification Program Director if the program has been approved for the use of G.I. Bill Educational Benefits. Approved programs will have personnel to help you complete the required paperwork. See the GI Bill website for further information on your benefits in general.
Search for schools that are approved to train veterans and can use your GI Bill at the Texas Veteran Commission Approved Schools and Employers.
The Hazelwood Act
Western Governors University (WGU) Military Appreciation Scholarship
Western Governors University (WGU) is offering supplemental $2,000 scholarships to active duty, veterans and their spouses. WGU’s Teacher College offers Bachelor and Master degree programs. Recipients are eligible to apply $500 of the scholarship money per six month term at WGU, renewable up to four terms. WGU has partnered with the National Military Family Association to offer active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their spouses an opportunity to advance their education. It’s one small way we can say “thanks” for your service, your sacrifice, and your commitment to our country’s future.

Federal Teacher Loan Forgiveness and Loan Cancellation Program
Under the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program, if you teach full-time for five complete and consecutive academic years in a low-income school or educational service agency, and meet other qualifications, you may be eligible for forgiveness of up to $17,500 on your Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans and your Subsidized and Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans.
College Student Loan Program
Since 1965, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) has provided low-interest loans for students who are Texas residents and/or are eligible to pay in-state tuition.
Federal Student Loans
In 2015, Texas launched 60x30TX, the state’s higher education strategic plan which aims to position Texas among the highest achieving states in the country and maintain its global competitiveness. As part of that program they maintain the website College for All Texans. On this website are links to the Federal Student Loans available like Federal Direct Consolidation Loans, Federal Direct Plus Loans, Federal Direct Subsidized Loans, Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans, and Federal Perkins Loan Program.
VA Reimbursement Form
If you have already taken any tests towards your teaching certificate, you may be eligible for reimbursement of your testing fees.
Print the Application for Reimbursement of Licensing or Certification Test Fees, fill it out and send your completed VA reimbursement form to:

Through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, Congress created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.
Survivors' & Dependent's Educational Assistance Program
The Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition, or who died while on active duty or as a result of a service related condition, or was detained or is missing in action. Accredited Schools Online has updated their in-depth guidebook that provides financial information and options for veterans, different associations and groups. Texas Education Agency (TEA) Fee Waivers
Effective September 1, 2015 the Texas Education Agency (TEA) will waive certain fees for eligible military service members, military veterans, and military spouses. Before completing an application for a service, you must submit your military exemption request.
